Why Can't I Just Get Healed By Someone Praying For Me?

Healing surely comes through prayer, and I want to encourage you to continue to pray over your own needs and for others. So why doesn't prayer alone bring the healing to every person?

When Jesus healed in the Bible, He would give a slight indication as to the root of their healing need; many times He would say your sins are forgiven. Jesus has the power to forgive your sins, but the person praying for you cannot. So if your healing need is attached in some form to your own sins, you will need to do your part if you want to see your healing come forth.

A 26-year-old woman sent me her dream to be interpreted a few years ago. The dream was about idols in her life. When I gave her the interpretation, she immediately said that God had told her that same thing many years ago and that it was attached to why she had cancer. She went into remission through treatments, but when she contacted me, it had come back with no hope from the medical community. I tried to walk her through the steps that God was laying out to me, but all she wanted to do was argue. Her premise was that she saw other people just getting prayed over, and they were healed. She only wanted me to pray for her. I said to her quite directly that God has been telling her for years that her Gateway was open to the enemy and unless she dealt with the Idols and sin that God was addressing, the enemy would not leave.  This is why her illness came back, and this is why just prayer alone was not going to be enough. She had to fully confess her sins of idolatry before the Lord, which she was unwilling to do despite God telling her personally years prior.

Although, she said she completely understood, she made it clear to me that all she wanted was prayer and nothing more. She died 4 months later. It is heartbreaking when God sends people to be helped and healed, and they refuse to do what God is telling them. We have to stop thinking God is a fairy with a magic wand. If He tells you to clean up an area of your life, do it. If He sends a vessel into your life that has the anointing to help you, then follow what they tell you to do. What we continue to allow into our lives can be our own undoing and a block to what God desires for us. Until the demons no longer have the legal right, they will continue to cause the problem. We must close the Gateway that the enemy is using. She went into remission the first time due to treating the cause from a natural standpoint, but what God had been telling her for years is that she needed to address her soul and the gateways she had wide open to the enemy.

43 “Now when the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, it roams through waterless (dry, arid) places in search of rest, but it does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it arrives, it finds the place unoccupied, swept, and put in order. 45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and make their home there. And the last condition of that man becomes worse than the first. So will it also be with this wicked generation.” Matthew 12:43-45

The last thing I would like to say here is that when you are praying for someone's healing miracles, keep praying even if you do not see anything immediately. God is working and even if the person needs to repent, God will work on their heart in an instant and often times, spirit to Spirit. It is more of a rarity for someone to refuse to do what God has told them to do when it is directly brought up to them by God. Your prayers are always effective and will bear fruit.
